KINGSTON PAST

edward b penny

As far as I can currently discover the writer of this travel book was Edward Burton Penny, born in 1804, and later, it seems, a Church of England clergyman, and a significant participant in the early theosophical movement in England.

The book is chiefly about Penny's travels in Mexico, but it has a brief introductory letter giving his impressions of Kingston, which he visited on his way to the mainland. He did not have time to see much, but his comments on what he did see are interesting, and entertaining.
